In October, 2012, Steve and I bought a place along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our family LOVES the mountains and with our boys and their wives living in Charlotte, it was a happy meeting place. We hope to have lots of family and friends come and visit and help us to make many happy memories. Here is a sunrise from the dining room window and sunset view from out on the back deck. The sunrise photo was taken New Years’s Eve morning. The sunset was taken in November. It is simply beautiful and I am sure this will be the first of many mountain shots that I share.

I am so behind on posting to my blog. I am going to try and play catch up with all the things that have been happening. Now that both my boys are married and all the excitement is behind me, now I can get back to sharing photos. I want to try and keep up the posting because it truly is a look-back over your year once you have them posted. 2013 will be better!!

Back in December I had the privilege of meeting and photographing a sweet mom and her daughters. We had such a great time and it is why I love to take photos. Miles separate the family, but as you can see from the photos below, love does not. Enjoy

As you know, I have a 3 1/2 lb yorkie. She is a spit fire and loves to go outside and chase squirrels into the woods behind my house. Well with this friend living in the woods behind my house and very often sitting in my backyard, I try not to let Gracie out much for fear this fellow will pick her up and fly away. It reminds me of the movie, The Proposal, where the bird picks up the puppy and flys away and Sandra Bullock is trying to swap her cell phone for the puppy. Such a funny movie, just in case you have not seen it. After many attempts, I finally was able to get a shot of my friend. Hawks have such good eyesight that if you even move, they fly. He is such a beautiful creature, as long as he leaves my pup alone

Trees . . . . . . . If you are from NC or have ever been to the Blue Ridge Mountains you are familiar with Grandfather Mountain and Sugar Top. We were up in trees and looking through them and off in the distance you can see both Sugar Top, the only high rise in the mountains of NC and to the left Grandfather. It was a little “smoky” this day which is how the mountain range got it’s name, Great Smoky Mountains
