This week is slow shutter speed. I will fess up now – this photo was taken October 2011 at our NC State Fair. I have been so busy this week that I did not have the time to even pick up my camera. This week our buzz word is “vintage”! My first thought is I needed that self portrait this week for the vintage shot. HA! Seriously, my knees feel very old today and not really sure why except I feel everyone of my 51 years today !

After all that, I decided that my time is running out to take my “youngen” and his soon to be bride out for photos so we headed out to this old caboose that sits in downtown Apex, NC. I love its color and this takes me back in time. I can remember riding a train in the 1st grade (thrill) and we each were able to ride in the caboose. Super cool and these two are super cute.

This week we had to shoot self portrait. Photographers do not like to be in front of the camera people, we like to be behind it! Thanks Amy Ames for taking my “self-portrait” in my craft room in front of my Mac! This room is where I live when not on the tennis court. I thought it was the perfect setting and thanks to Amy for keeping most of the junk out of the picture but getting little Gracie under the desk in the photo. She is my little 3.5 lb yorkie who runs this house. Someone spoils her, who could that be?

Now lets check out Cathy Kuhlman of Philadelphia, PA. If I remember correctly, Cathy was ready last week for her self portrait debut. You go girl!

When I saw that this week we were to take a photo of something round what else would I have taken a picture of, I ask myself? I play this sport at least 3 to 4 days a week and I love it. Today my baby turns 23. All too soon, our children grow up and make their own choices. God has to lead them in the way they need to go, according to his plan for their lives. It is difficult letting go, but letting Christ have His way is always better, even when it means separation. Find Your Wings by Mark Harris, it is how I feel about both my boys. This song brings a tear to my eye each time I hear it but also makes me smile with JOY! Preston you are a joy to dad and I and we love you so very much! We are so proud of the young, God fearing man you have become. You will make an amazing husband to Alex and father to your children. Happy Birthday Son!

This week our prompt was “Perspective”. At first I must say I was just brain dead but then the light bulb went off. HA. There are so many ways that we can interpret this word so in my perspective bluebirds, they rock. I love to sit and watch the male and female as they build their nest in a box that I have placed in my backyard. They tend to their young with so much love, it makes my heart happy. I watch the baby birds grow and then watch as they fly away. They normally nest three times in the summer. Don’t you agree that the male eastern bluebird, well he is just stunning.

This week our prompt word was “blue”. First I took pictures of the blue birds that are nesting in my backyard. The male bluebird is simple beautiful. Then I talked Preston and Alex into a short photo shoot in the back yard. What do I need to say, look at those big blue eyes looking at my son . Isn’t love sweet!?! They are such a cute pair – love them to pieces. They are both counting the days until June 16th when they become husband & wife. We are BLESSED!

This week our buzz word was “metal”. I really need to look ahead because last week I took a picture of a metal gate with really cool art work on it. This week not so much, but as I took my dogs for a walk this fence jumped out and said “TAKE ME!”

I hear MUSIC . . . . This week is about music and it is something that I listen to all the time. I wanted some cool shot for this week but as always procrastination sets in and I am taking my photo today. This gate is located at the amphitheater that is a mile from my house. I love the detail in the craftsmanship and as I look at it I can hear the music playing. What about you?

This weeks challenge, BOOKS, was kind of tough for me and as you can see below, my son was loving the fact that he had to help me out. He got home from school this evening and with his backpack on I made him stand with a book about the University of North Carolina Tarheels last National Championship hanging out of the pack. I told him to act like he was reading the book and his reply, I do not read. HA! What are you going to do with an almost 23 year old.

He is always a super sport for me and I will miss him when he leaves in June. Alex, you are getting a WINNER as is he Love you both!!!!!
