This week we were to capture an image about Memorial Day.  Many things came to mind but the common thread was the American Flag.   I decided my backyard was the perfect place along with Josh and Mary Grace.  We set up the perfect picnic and they were willing to be my models.   Always fun when my children are willing to allow me to take more pictures of them. :)

The flag is a true symbol of our freedoms and I am so thankful for those men and women who risk their lives everyday to serve this country, so that I can enjoy freedoms!  Thank you does not seem to be near enough but I truly am thankful.  Happy Memorial Day to everyone.

Glorious Day (if you have time listen to this Casting Crowns song, it will bring your heart joy)

Protection: Who is your protector, Where do you feel safest, What makes you feel safe? I knew immediately what I was going to post.   Then I had to come up with a creative way to show my feelings to you.  I know I rest in the shadow of the cross and one Glorious Day, Christ is coming back.  He is my Refuge, Strong tower, my Rock, my Savior, Light in the darkness, Bright and Morning Star, the Faithful and True. . . . . and these are just a few.  I do not live in fear of a world that seems to be falling apart all around me.  Jesus is the Rock of my Salvation and I stand in the shadow of His protection.

My husband, Steve is my earthly protector.  His unconditional love and arms wrapped around me is a warm and safe place.  I find safety in his arms and just being by his side. We are apart some due to his work, but even miles apart I feel his love and protection with me always.  I am so blessed that God brought him into my life 33 years ago.  We will celebrate 28 years of marriage on May 28th and we dated for 5 years before we were married.  I am one blessed woman!  Thank you God for sending Steve my way!

This week we were to photograph flowers.  Oh my, it is one of my favorite things to photograph, to plant, to water and to watch grow.  I know I got the love of flowers from my mom and grandma.  They both have taught me a lot about planting and loving your flowers.  I will confess that I did not take either of these pictures this week, it has been kind of yuky here but tulips, they are one of my favorite flowers.

My family loves to go to the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC to see all the tulips in full bloom.  We have not been in a few years but hope to go back maybe in 2013.  Our 2012 is planned already because both of our sons will be getting married,  Josh in March and Preston in June.  We are so happy and excited at the Moore house.

Don’t forget to continue the flower journey as you go and check out what Lynn, Bugsmom Photography, NJ, http://thebugsmommy.wordpress.com has in store for you!

These two adorable girls brought a lot of fun and joy to my backyard a few weeks ago.  Kelly & Mike (mom & dad) helped with wardrobe changes, making them laugh and just all around keeping them occupied for a friend and myself while we snapped pictures.  We had the best time and the girls did GREAT!  Kelly wanted to take a few pictures of Hailey because she will be two this week.  Truthfully, I could have taken pictures of them for hours, but after about an hour they had enough.  It was fun to come up with different ideas for them to do while we took pictures.  Elizabeth and Hailey, lets do it again! :)  Just a few of the photos from that afternoon.

Mother’s Day was special in so many ways.  Steve and I spent Saturday with our mom’s so that we could spend Sunday at UNC Chapel Hill watching our “baby” graduate with a BSBA.  We are so proud and he was so happy.  It was a special day for everyone, but for a mom watching her child grow up and become young man, it makes her heart burst with JOY.  I love you Preston and you will always be my “baby”!  Love, mom

This week is Motherly Love: Your mom, Are you a mom? Another mother figure in your life? Yes I am a mother of two great sons, but on Mother’s Day it is my mom that I think about the most.  She turned 80 on April 3, 2011 and we had a family celebration to surprise her.  We feel so blessed because just a year ago, she spent her birthday in the hospital and we were not sure what was wrong.  The doctors finally discovered she had experienced some seizures and this affected her in many ways.   She then spent the next 3 months in a rehab facility.  Praise the Lord, she has recovered now, back at home and living on her on.  God is so good.

She does not like to get her picture taken and this was a rare moment.  Sorry I did not take this one this week, and it is not the best picture, but it is special to me.  My mom has always been there for me and my brother’s and sister.  She truly loves us all unconditionally, even on days that we were or are not so lovely :(   I LOVE YOU MOM!!  I hope you all have a very special Mother’s Day and give your mom a BIG hug!

love you mom
